NERONE MOUNTAIN

With its 1525 m. Mount Nerone dominates Piobbico and its Palazzo Brancaleoni.

This massif, whose name according to a very suggestive hypothesis refers to the cult of Mars Nero (strong Mars, valiant in the language of the ancient Umbrian populations), is located in the northwestern part of the Dorsale Umbro marchigiana and has preserved, at least in some of its features, , places and environments still wild with its forests, ravines recessed and dug into the rocks by streams and its many caves for which it is famous..

An environment in which nature communicates with history and which which hosts animals such as the wolf, the eagle, the wild cat and the salamandrina terdigitata (a curious and shy amphibian). . Numerous historical testimonies and the small villages that dot the mountain and its slopes and the possibility of making more or less demanding excursions along the paths by contacting the local Hiking Judges.
